China

Just got back from 2 weeks conference/fieldtrip in China to see some interesting mineral deposits over there - including the 2nd biggest nickel deposit in the world (after Sudbury). Unfortunately didn't get to see as much geology as I'd have liked due to bureaucracy (couldn't go underground at 2 of the mines) but it was an experience. I'll try to get some pics and maybe a tutorial up soon.

Sounds like an excellent trip! Pity about the paperwork getting in the way. Did you sample and local cusine? My supervisor had a trip to China last year and she sampled some...unique dishes Smiling face

Looking forward to some pics.

P.S It's not related to this topic at all, but there's a new pic on the site of Niagara Falls, taken from my recent trip to Canada for a conference.

Pigs ears, Sea cucumber, chicken feet, heart, liver, snake, mmmm...

Still, one of the fieldtrips went to remote parts of inner mongolia, and enjoyed such delicacies as grasshopper and scorpion...
